I have been arguing about the same games since 2011.

I grew up on radio commentary and a scorebook I filled in badly, and I never really stopped keeping score. Before this desk I spent nine years in newsrooms where the brief was volume: file fast, file often, and never risk a verdict that someone could hold you to.

This site is the opposite of that brief. I watch fewer matches and write about them properly — franchise cricket, women’s cricket and football, the three I can follow closely enough to say something useful. If I did not see the game, I do not file on it.

Everything you read here is mine: the reporting, the ratings, the sub-editing, the typos I find three hours later. That is the trade — no committee, no house line, and nowhere to hide when a call ages badly.
